Ruqyah shar'iyyah
Prophetic healing from Qurʾān & Sunnah
Authentic recitations for shifāʾ (healing), protection, anxiety, and the evil eye — every entry sourced to the Qurʾān or a graded ḥadīth.
- Approach with certainty that shifāʾ (healing) comes from Allah alone; the recitation is a means, not the source.
- Perform wuḍūʾ where possible, face the Qiblah, and recite with focus and understanding.
- Recite over yourself, or over another with their consent — placing the right hand on the area of pain is Sunnah.
- Blow lightly into the hands or over the person after recitation (nafth) — a soft breath with minimal saliva.
- Ruqyah must contain only the words of Allah, His names and attributes, or transmitted duʿāʾ — never talismans, unknown scripts, or invoking other than Allah.
- Combine ruqyah with taking legitimate medicine and consulting doctors — this is the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.

ENIn the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. Master of the Day of Judgement. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path — the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favour, not of those who have earned Your anger, nor of those who have gone astray.

Āyat al-Kursī
ENAllah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Ruqyah is a means (sabab), not a substitute for medical care. Combine it with legitimate treatment — the Prophet ﷺ said: "Seek treatment, for Allah has not sent down a disease except that He has sent down a cure for it" (Abū Dāwūd 3855). Never mix ruqyah with amulets, unknown scripts, or invoking other than Allah.
